The snapdragon is grown as an annual in many gardens. It is the plant children love to play with, to see if the snout-shaped heads can really bite them. Leaves are deciduous, alternate and simple. Flowers are in the shape of a snout and they come in a variety of colors. Heights range from 12 inches to 3 feet. They do not shed much pollen. In Russia, snapdragons are grown for their seeds, which is used for cooking oil.
